a little south of north

we've always enjoyed
vacations in rural southwest virginia,
but this time we decided
to go to the city!
at a lunch stop,
i admired the kickboard art
near the cash register
& found my mother's childhood
at the antique store
across the street
over the river,
through the woods,
& driving rain...
we did arrive
by foot
to the ICA,
we gazed upon
declarations of
scuba meditato

bejeweled, bedazzled

a stitch in time

then took the elevator
down & out
to explore the city

looking over your shoulder
lest you become
stuck in a jar
of strawberry jam

daaaaay dos

we desired additional
sustenance

(in front of our airbnb)*
after long, spontaneous strolls in the sunshine
without the benefit of any spf
