suEEEEE

i'll take just about
any excuse
to go to the
FAIR
this weekend
we're hosting a student
from Italia
so....

the Midway

i used to make things like this as a child

sweet doll with solo hat sombrero
a nice thing
about a regional fair
is that you can actually
get a good seat
at the Pig Races

pigs racing for CheesePuffs

potbellied pigs racing for CheesePuffs

goats racing for CheesePuffs

ducks racing for CheesePuffs

Butterfly Child

ultimate frisbee with dogs

& a great spot
to view
the dog show

herding gone wild

retriever, por supuesto

&, really,
who knew i loved chickens this much?

pile o' feathers

i spy
with my one
beady eye

guess this one's a rooster

something
that starts with

--cluck--

gorgeous feathers

& dinosaur legs

who you calling a dinosaur?

you, whooooo

put your feathers up

goats on parade

sheep haircut

we've got a winner!

turning a wooden bowl, old-style

a krampus to take home, plus this bearded fellow

tobacco, of course

all that glitters is not gold

all-American fare
(at the fair)

scary sign in the children's area...run while you can.
a grand time
was had by all.

it's a fine folk life

do you think they will ever
rename it
the Greensboro Folk Fest ?

until then,
this is the inaugural year
of the NC Folk Fest
(in Greensboro)

we had 3 years
of the National
& now it's
homegrown
(but still even international!)

the very first year,
i was CAPTIVATED
by the brilliant
sign-language interpreters
(in particular, ONE
- not pictured here -
who translated Mavis Staples
& was absolutely
PHENOMENAL)
even though i
know only about
five signs
in this beautiful
language.

i enjoyed this trio,
interpreting a conversation
(and music)
between several female musicians....
