Christmas Days

we had both boys home
to celebrate
Xmas
 in between rainshowers,
there was two-hand tag
football to be had

the usual

the cajouled
 we invited my parents
for Christmas Day
festivities

the hostess & host, that's us

we four

me & Mom

facetime with my brother in Charleston
between meals,
we walked (adults) &
ran, climbed, swung, tossed (these two)

with Samuel (21)

with Joseph (18)

we four all-grown ones (ageless)
finally got around to opening presents....

indulging my penchant for glamour

he built it & totally enjoyed explaining how he did

the next day called for
Eating Out
with my parents at A Special Blend
lunch at Pho Hien Vuong

several days later,
it was time to return the eldest to NC State
(the marching band was headed to the bowl game),
so we visited Mike's parents & family
in a triangular on-the-way route

in Raleigh, we had a speedy dinner
with my parents

then completed the triangle
& returned home...

or at least standby as you explain

there's bound to be paparazzi, too

it will pay to be uber-organized
with all the bits&bobs
for the all-important motherboard
(you know how mothers are)

o.xmas.tree

an impending snowmageddon
had us out in the yard
wrapping up our
autumn chores!

the birds, too,
were scrambling.
some
more than
others.
i'm thinking
these were left behind
(under the bird feeder)
by a cardinal,
who did appear
to have escaped
the same fate.
 though it occurs to me
now
the cardinal
may have been
carried off
in the mouth of the winner.

back to sweetness...
a Christmas rose
 i've been exceptionally slow
on the seasonal activities
this year,
which meant no progeny
around to assist
in the
Hanging of the Festive Orbs
 i've expanded to 2 trees
this year,
as the smaller dogwood
is now up to snuff.

then, while we had settled our brains
this happened...
& it just kept snowing!
we ended up with more than a foot!

in my bear-like way,
in anticipation of the weather,
i had plotted out
snow day
meals,
like this one...
 basically,
i ate.read.ate.read.ate.read
...you get the picture...
* * * * *
we had put up our tree
the weekend before,
and added lights & the angel
but i was
(refer back)
feeling rather lazy & indifferent
about ornaments on the tree;
however, on snow day three...
well, i decided
to do more than
eat.read.eat.read.eat
from my childhood

Christmas gnome, made by my grandmother Korte

Christmas ornament, also made by my grandmother Korte

Christmas Elf, from my grandfather Roberts' childhood

little antique ornament with face (the size of a thimble) i found along the way

snowflake angel (not old) that reminds me of my grandmother Korte

lightbulb snowman, made by Samuel

lightbulb reindeer, made by Joseph

snowman, by...

SAM..UE..L

lower left point is broken & there is a memory there
 & then, there are
the Octopuses
made by me, age 9

they both look a little anxious

octopus luxe

yes, i counted them.

the world's happiest octopus

Octopus Bliss
i also enjoy other
sea creatures.
especially if they sparkle
