the woods

the travels of summer
are now part family mythology.

& it is time to recalibrate to life HERE,

which is exceptional in quieter ways.

so, we took a walk in the Woods.

guilford college's woods, to be exact.  where we disturbed the turtles from their sunny perches on logs to PLOP! back into the pond.  & watched double-winged dragonflies gather at the shallows.

 the recent rains left behind

a translucent green wing

& mushrooms.

we forded the creek twice and found the tree swings,

as well as an improvised ladder into the cradle of one.
