remind me what day it is.

i love my ten-month schedule.  except during the first few weeks of month one.  when we are all jolted (shoved. jerked. catapulted.) back into the school year.  mornings started in the dark.  sleepy teenagers roused from dreams.  clock-watching.  watch-watching.  dropping off and picking up, again & again (but i have the easy end of that deal - i get to leave in between).  grocery shopping with harried working parents rather than mid-morning with the seniors.  trying to find that magic point-in-time when we are all home at what might be considered a reasonable hour to eat the evening meal.  weekend laundry instead of whenever i feel like it.  signing whatever's put in front of me (kind of).  email.  phone messages.  more email.

we are as the busy bee,
frantically attending to
the briefly abundant nectar
before the cold weather arrives.

& our house, which never quite touches high standards of clean, uncluttered, & organized (shifting piles around is only an illusion of these, it turns out), is in a holding pattern until winter break - or June...whichever comes first.  or is it last?  but, you know, if you add the right sparkle, even a really messy web/house is a beautiful spot to catch a fly.

&, then, there's the job i get paid to do.  my seventh year - so hard to believe!   & it is always nice to feel like it's color-coordinated...a matchy-match.  i'm so happy humming through my sunshiney-yellow days.

and coming home, each night, to roost.
