downtown...that's where i wanna be

opening my front door these days is like opening the door of the oven to check on the chocolate chip cookies i made last night.  a rolling wall of hotness right in my face.  add in the delightful carolina humidity, and you can be assured that we are all sweating like a cold pitcher of sweet tea brought out for company on the front porch.  ain't that right, y'all?

but we did venture out to pop in on the opening of a fun new place downtown!  actually, two fun new places ~ Crafted: The Art of Street Food & the new Preyer Brewing Company!  they are side-by-side & share an interior door where i hear (though this is unconfirmed by a Crafted employee) that brewery patrons can order crafted yummies.

it seems that we are always going places where we say to each other, "Who are these people? And where did they come from?"  which either means we have highly eclectic taste (and, thus, rarely encounter the same people twice) . . . or that we don't go out much.

well, this is one musician i do make it a point to see/hear whenever i have the chance!  & is, really, what drew us out of the air-conditioning and onto the asphalt parking lot.

a little bit of foxy for good luck
i saw the 'permanent make-up' sign first...then saw the repair shop next door...and it just made me smile.
one-stop shopping? something to do while you wait? his & hers?
there's a lot of new construction happening downtown these days.  surrounding this Odd Fellows Lodge is a dirt lot that was a really old hotel (The Dixie) & will soon be a brand-spanking-new hotel.  i enjoyed the signage on this Lodge . . .

i've had a professional treat recently to be involved, however nominally, in two downtown projects ~ one is an art/exploration component of the children's play area of the soon-to-be LeBauer Park & the other is an art/play installation piece along the new Downtown Greenway.  i am having a grand time being a small part of both projects & can't wait to see them come into being!

it's going to be grand! come play with me!
