o xmas tree

so, we had this Deal.
every other year,
the PrestoPine.
& every other year,
the RealTree.
and we really did stick to it.
mostly.
until now.
 because
you know
i just LOVE a RealTree.
perhaps i'll look back
on my poor choices
(like buying a RealTree),
but for now...
i picked out a six-footer
with patches of variegated needles
& hauled it home
with the trunk bungeed,
minding the bumps
along the way.
 we put the singing angel
up on top -
the one picked up
from an antique shop
in our salad days.
 & i filled the tree
with snowflake angels
 and music angels
 and red-headed angels
and checked in with
the manger angel
 then i went rogue
& turned it into an
Octopus Angel Tree
fancy octopus (watched over by an ornament from my childhood)

a classic - made by me in elementary school

my newest octopus

nothing to see here

a found treasure
plus some really old ornaments -
some with stories i know;
some with stories i don't.
my grandfather Robert's elf

my grandmother Korte's elf

i shook the snowglobes
while no one was looking

Santa bling

creepy-cheery snowman a-glow

colored lights in den

white lights in living room

looking North

snow on dogwood

looking South

tree, then snow

snow, then tree

o Xmas tree
the first year in twenty
that we've decorated a tree
with no children in the house.
but their stockings are hung
by the chimney with care
in hopes that St. Nicholas
(and they)
soon will be t/here.
