sunshine (no electric required)

an already-scheduled autumnal visit
to Raleigh was a go
(though i left behind a house without electric,
& my parents were running basics off a generator)
~ ~ ~
sunshine-y weather
(and my parents' gas h2o heater)
made it an excellent pre-bday treat
to me!

it's not your eyesight...this is slightly blurry :)

this company owned about two city blocks (it seems)
in the downtown Raleigh warehouse district.
now it is Urban Outfitters & condos

we were all agog that we'd not heard of this place,
but turns out it's only been open about two weeks.
so we felt hip again.

i also sat in the sunshine & read a book,
had dinner with one of my very best friends,
saw my children, took hot showers,
cheered with my parents & their neighbors
when their lights came back on
(and the noisy generators turned off),
bought myself an "NCSU Mom" t-shirt,
& returned home to ELECTRICITY!
(which is not over-rated
but is not as essential
as flush toilets)
