decided to meander through our old haunts
on the way to picking up youngest
for turkey break.
we actually have no mutual unc memories,
as we met after we'd both left.
& so much has changed on franklin street...
though the campus looks much the same.
a couple of friendly octopuses greeted us
along rosemary street, though.
& the weather was fall-perfect!
~ as were the trees ~
we ate at a great Mediterranean restaurant
that was not there back in the day.
& admired more yellow leaves on trees
yellow leaves in wind
sign remains although the business is gone
a place i never went
stopped at the Ackland Art Museum
for a concert of Japanese music & art
enjoyed feeling like a baby bird for a bit
then on towards campus
blackbirds in tree
Davey Poplar still stands

the Wilson Library often has interesting small displays
this one was of costumes created over the years
for Playmaker's Theatre
guess where we are?
small exhibition on items donated to the university
pretty much how i did it my first semester, back in 1987. then it went to high-tech telephone drop/add.
spied in the basement window of Phillips Hall
the location of my favorite hangout, Columbia Street Bakery
& then we hung out on Ninth Street (in Blue Devil Land)
waiting for the youngest to arrive back to NCSSM from Model UN
and come home for his Thanksgiving Break!
