bewarned! another flower post

ya'll are, likely, going to grow weary of my garden posts.  but i just can't help myself!  i just LOVE our yard so much.  this is what it looks like right now....although it is changing daily with all this warm weather!

now, how does a daffodil bulb migrate to the middle of the backyard?
please tell me, if you know.

camellias are tricky.  they are really, really beautiful flowers - but they bruise so easily!  the day after i took the photograph, this pristine white camellia had bruised fingerprints all over it from my handling.  the other thing that is always so surprising is that (at least from what i can detect) camellias have no scent.  nada.  zero.  zilch.  they are completely non-fragrant.  which i find incredibly disappointing.  it's a good thing they're so darn pretty.

pink perfection

in a previous post, i mentioned the delightful visiting lilac from our neighbor's yard.  it had bent over from the ice & not been righted.  several lilac buds were turning purple, & i was coveting them.  well, sadly, it was yanked from the ground and tossed to the curb.  i looked to see if it was salvageable; alas, it was broken off at the root.  i tend not to think this was a lesson in coveting thy neighbor's lilacs.
our lilac, on the other hand, is only putting out green leaves.
not a single lilac bud on the entire plant.
i came out to my car this morning & found a fine, yellow dust
had settled in over the night or early morning.
ah, pollen, i have (not) missed you.

i find great joy in weeds.  after all, they are so easy!  really, all you have to do is let them go for a season &, then, encourage the ones you like for years of no-maintenance delight.  i highly recommend this gardening style.  here are some sweet violets among what will be some sort of tiny daisy-like wildflower this summer.  i make my mowers (aka children) go around these daisies all summer long.  i'm sure you'll see a photo of them later on & see the appeal.
