hubby & i went to the opening of a local art exhibit (at the UNCG Weatherspoon Art Musuem) featuring pieces from the collection of William Louis-Dreyfus (he being the father of Julia). he collects 'outsider' art, which he defines as artists who are not formally educated, probably poor, possibly with a disability of some sort (i didn't quite understand that connection, though one of the artists was deaf), likely African-American (also, an odd connection for me, but i suppose that speaks to generational differences).
so, here is the art he brought to Greensboro to share
Louis-Dreyfus with Nancy Doll, who is the Director of the Weatherspoon
found his work interestingly intricate but not much for my heart
this artist was my favorite
he had great titles for each of his paintings
here's a link with more info on this artist.
my favorite painting in the exhibition
