bunches, clumps, handfuls, & a bluebird or two

even though i firmly believe (kind of) that i successfully (maybe) banished winter by removing the snowman tablecloth from the lunch table at work, the weather forecasters were calling for freezing rain overnight....so, i plucked all of the almost-blooming wee daffodils around the yard & brought them inside.  there was no freezing rain, but now i have a lovely bouquet of sunshine on my desk ~

green.green.green.
our yard is turning green!
it is my favorite color.

this is a stand of daffodils that haven't bloomed in any of the eleven years we've lived at this house.  why i am optimistic that this will be the year that changes, i have no idea.  likely it's laziness.  because what i really should do is dig the whole clump of bulbs UP and replant them.  so, message me if you have any idea what time of year i should do that...and i'll put it on my list.
is there a hardiness level associated with crocus color?  i'm curious but find no confirmation of this on the www.  the yellow ones were the first around the yard; one week later, those have become tattered and translucent & the purple ones are popping open near the back steps.

raking is a six-month endeavor.
perhaps i like to savor it.
i am also glad when it is done,
which is not yet.

late afternoon sunshine turned this to gold;
but when i walked around to the other side,
it just looked like the dead weed that it is.
so i walked back to the side with the sunshine
to leave that image in my eyes.

a bluebird
(or two)
of happiness

other things that make me happy.
now you see them.
 now you don't.

i like how you know to look for a second bluebird.  it's reassuring.
(but take heed of these observations from the 1930's)
