dc day 4 : part 2 of 3 parts : national gallery & east wing

making a beeline for more art,
we paused at American History
for a snowcone (him)
& a loo stop (me), then
~ ~ ~
bracelet-wielding monks
in mustard robes
waylayed us near
the turtle-paced security line
at the Natural History museum.
(thank goodness, not us)
we were assured
'lucky-lucky'
~ ~ ~
my blue-lipped compatriot
departed for other galleries.
& i took a circuitous route
through these familiar halls.

in my childhood,
if we were to eat in one of the museums,
this would be the one -
the underground cafeteria
between the East Wing & the National Gallery.
Meet at the Waterfall
so that's what we did
i briefly had companions
follow me to the East Wing

however, they quickly departed
to a less abstract place
(i heard it was really crowded).
