we finally made it! i had not, particularly, concerned myself with just quite how far
north is the Many Glacier area of Glacier National Park. i just knew it was where we needed to be. but it sure did take us a while to get there!
we had been following the Rocky Mountains for quite some time - and following the eastern edge of Glacier National Park for a long while, too. the Blackfeet Indian Reservation runs on this side of the park, and there were free-range cattle grazing along the narrow, windy road as we kept heading farther and farther north.
finally, we took the turn at Babb, Montana (home of the famous
Cattle Baron Supper Club, of which we did not partake), into Many Glacier!
WOW. just WOW. this was our mantra.

| i was so pleased to capture the rainbow against the side of the mountain. |
we stayed at Many Glacier Hotel (more on that later), and there was a hill in front of the hotel, behind which everyone parked their cars. at the top of the hill, you got a nice 360-view of the valley - and, of course, i found some flowers.

| just a tad windy. |
these photos cannot capture the scale of the mountains. it really does feel like the Alps - they are
that huge. towers of stone. when we first got to the lodge, pretty much at dusk on an already overcast day, i just sat in front of the large picture windows in the main lobby and stared. it never got old.
